Annual Week of Prayer for the Unity Service

Our first year St. Luke’s College Students participated in the Annual Week of Prayer for the Unity Service at ICM, Takone, Myitkyina on Tuesday evening, 2 October 2018. On the following evening the second year students joined such a service at Dukahtawng Caholic Church. There are about 10 Christian churches of various denominations in Myitkyina. This Unity Service is an opportunity for all the churches to be together for one particular purpose – PEACE!

The Prayer Service began at 6 pm in the evening. The theme of this year for the Unity Service was, “Peace and Reconciliation. “The fruit of righteousness will be peace, the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever (Isaiah 32:17).

During the program representatives from different churches in Myitkyina took turn for sharing, reading the Bible and leading the general prayer. St. Luke’s College students also sang a theme oriented song.

By such participation, our students have learned differences in the faith practices in Christian churches and learned the meaning of praying together with others. Besides, have become aware of how to be and become peace builders in the war affected and conflicts based situation as good humans based on Christ’s values.
