On 8 May 2023, St. Luke’s College began the 2023- 2024 Academic year with the Eucharistic Celebration at 6.30 a.m. On the same day, St. Luke’s College welcomed new students and Fr. Dr. Dashi Bernard, the incoming new director. Msgr. Dr. Peter Hka Aung Tu graced the occasion and led the Eucharistic celebration, while Fr. Leo Gopal (Director), Fr. Lawrence, SJ (Associate Director), Fr. Dr. Dashi Bernard, the incoming Director, and Fr. Thomas, SJ, concelebrated. The main intentions of the Eucharist Celebration were 1) the blessings for the new academic year, 2) thanking God for the incoming director Fr. Dr. Dashi Bernard, and 3) the speedy recovery of Fr. Leo Gopal who will retire from the director position by the end of this year due to poor health.

The second-year students sang a welcoming song at the end of the Eucharist. Then a simple breakfast was served to all attendants after the Mass.

At 90:30 a.m., the program’s second part of welcoming new students and Fr. Dr. Dashi Bernard. During the program, Fr. Leo Gopal gave a welcoming speech and Msgr. Dr. Peter Hka Aung Tu announced the appointment of Fr. Dr. Dashi Bernard to St. Luke’s College. Likewise, Fr. Lawrence Khui Shing gave a motivational talk to students and staff, and Fr. Dr. Dashi Bernard gave the first encouraging talk to all St. Luke’s College students. SLC students sang a welcoming song and St. Luke’s College Theme song. Then the students and staff gave a welcoming traditional basket to Fr. Dr. Dashi Bernard. The program successfully ended at 11 a.m.
